Romantic elegance will be the Look in 2012

January 3, 2012

Wedding dresses

Victorian styles will be the inspiration for the 2012 bridal season. Long, full skirts with corsets, chokers and high necklines. Also, look for lots of lace, even in the form of long sleeves. You will be seeing short, quarter length or even puffy sleeves. Brides who still want to go strapless will have the option of adding a bolero jacket that can be removed for the reception. You will also see unique necklines this season, like a halter dress with a high neckline or even an illusion neckline. Princess-like ball gowns will be hot, and bling is still going to be happening in 2012.The trend of having a separate dress for the reception will continue in 2012. Many brides will choose to have a fuller, more ornate dress for their ceremony, and a short, more casual dress where they can be more comfortable and relaxed.  And . . . don’t forget your shoes! You will see lots of sparkle and metallics along with bows and lace on wedding shoes. Gone are plain white satin pumps. Now you have shoes in shades of red, blue, pink and cream.

There will be a lot of color diversity in 2012.  The bold colors of 2011 will continue, such deep pinks and sunny yellows. Neutrals are making a big comeback this season, with choices that convey nature, tranquility, such as beige and pale blue. Pantone, the Official Expert on Colors Everywhere, has declared the 2012 Color of the Year will    be . . . Tangerine Tango! And we think they got it absolutely right!  There are endless possibilities for creating your wedding theme around this color. From your flowers or bridesmaid dresses to invitations and table linens, there are so many possibilities for working this shade into your scheme—especially if your Big Day falls in the spring or summer.

The Bridal Bouquet

Romantic wedding bouquets will pair beautifully with classically-inspired wedding dresses. Soft colors such as ivory or light pink, and big, plush blooms which can be adorned with details like pearls and feathers.

And, in case you haven’t heard . . . wedding themes are back!  It once was considered rather tacky to have a full and obvious wedding theme, so people opted more for a color scheme rather than a theme. Well things have changed. Themes are going to be big for 2012. You can choose a theme that is a favorite pastime or a movie theme. Wherever your imagination can take you will make it a day to remember.  Including your guests in the theme will make it fun and memorable as well.  So bring on the themes and let the fun commence.
