Location

The beaches of the gulf coast of Florida are a great choice for those who enjoy the beauty of the sea and want a location that holds special meaning or significance. A beach destination wedding can minimize costs by combining the wedding and honeymoon.

Beach Décor & Design

Tropical flowers such as dendodrium orchids and calla lilies are popular flowers in Florida and are especially beautiful for decorating the wedding area. A bamboo arch can be the main focal point for the bride and groom to exchange their vows. The arch can be decorated with the bride's choice of colors and florals. White fabric-covered chairs with colored sashes tied back with natural florals are perfect seating arrangements for guests. Real rose petals scattered on the sand leading to the altar area are popular at beach themed weddings and make for beautiful photographs. Tiki torches and Shepherd’s Hooks may be used to line the Aisleway where the guests will be gathering. Starfish, and shells can accent the wedding area to provide a welcoming beach atmosphere. Natural musical instruments such as steel drums, flutes and harps should be played that will contribute to the natural atmosphere.

Beach Wedding Attire

The key to choosing your beach wedding attire is keeping the look simple yet elegant and choosing fabrics that work best for the temperatures during that time of year. Popular looks are strapless, tea-length dresses. Wedding veils don't work well on the beach so floral or bejeweled accessories are especially popular. For the men, dress khakis, and linen shirts work quite well and lend themselves well to the overall beach themed wedding. High heeled shoes sink into sand, so consider low heels, no shoes at all or a runner to protect dresses, shoes and pants cuffs.

Reception

The reception is oftentimes held at or nearby the wedding location. Local restaurants are all very “Wedding Friendly” and can accommodate you and your wedding guests. Tropical flowers, candles, tiki lights and hurricane lanterns are popular accents for the reception.
