Choosing a Wedding Officiate

June 17, 2013

Wedding by Christina takes a "Design" approach in creating your unique ceremony. In our work together, I listen to the story of your love, we share ideas, and I offer you a package full of examples for every element of the ceremony. I love the challenge of finding the right words and the special touches to make your ceremony express the true meaning that is in your heart.

Your ceremony sets the tone for the rest of your wedding day.  It’s the first impression your family and guests have of you as a married couple.  You want your families and guests to comment on how beautiful and heartfelt your ceremony was not just ho-hum and ordinary. Wouldn’t you want words that were written about you specifically, your relationship and your beliefs, rather than a “fill-in-name here” canned ceremony that everyone has heard a million times?

When choosing an officiate, price should never be the deciding factor. Many officiates like ourselves are willing to work with couples. If we are several months away from your big day we can easily set up a payment plan. A $50 or $100 difference in price for an experienced and highly qualified officiate or minister and a so-so one should not stand between you and having a beautiful, meaningful and memorable start to your married life.

And, if possible, meet your officiate. Nothing can beat a face-to-face meeting if at all possible.  If an in-person meeting is not possible because of distance, than spend some time with them on the phone, getting to know their personality and someone you feel comfortable and at ease with.  Email should NEVER be the only way you communicate.  E-mail correspondence does not always convey to you the personality of the person – nor the quality of their voice, which is vitally important.

If you spend some time with choosing your officiate with some of the above qualities and guidelines, you are sure to have the ceremony of your dreams!

"Christina was great to work with. Planning a Florida beach wedding from Indiana would have been very difficult for us. Christina put everything together including the location, the officiant and the photographer as well as offering great ideas and additions to our ceremony. Every email was answered right away and each change was accommodated. Our ceremony was EXACTLY what we wanted. I highly recommend Weddings By Christina!"   ~   Read More »
