If you are looking for a unique element to add to your wedding ceremony, incorporating a ring warming into your wedding is such a special way to involve all of your guests in your ceremony. A ring warming is when you give your loved ones the opportunity to hold and infuse your wedding bands with a wish, blessing or prayer for your marriage. By the time your rings make it on to your fingers they will be infused with all the love of your friends and family.  It is also a wonderful option for couples having a non-religious ceremony but want to consider their religious loved ones. With a ring warming everyone will be welcome to take a moment to bring their own beliefs into your ceremony in a private but meaningful way.

Bride and groom will exchange rings as a physical symbol of the vows they are making to one another. As the ceremony procedes, will the families of Ginny and Adam please warm these rings by passing them down the row. As you hold them in your hands, pause for a moment, and make your wishes for the couple and for their future together before you pass them on to the next person. These rings will not only be a gift from one to another but will be given with the love, support and wisdom of their family and friends.

It is a good idea put someone in charge of your ring warming, to explain to guests how it works and make sure that it runs smoothly. Depending on the type of ceremony you’re having you have a few options. The most common option is to pass the rings around throughout the ceremony and have a “ring chaperone(s)” keep an eye on things to make sure the rings are moving along and will be ready when it is time. Someone from your bridal party is always a good choice. If you have a larger guest list you may want to have everyone “warm” your rings as they arrive, before they take their seat. If all of this just sounds like too much trouble and a little scary but you still love the idea, you can always just do this with your parents and wedding party at the rehearsal or before the ceremony. I really love the sentiment behind a ring warmingand aside from this being a unique addition to your ceremony, it also kind of the perfect way to show off your new rings to all your guests!
