Tis the Season to Propose!

November 19, 2012

There is something truly magical and romantic about the Holiday Season. And a proposal of marriage can be especially meaningful during this festive time of year. Christmas can provide a particularly beautiful backdrop for that special moment when you decide to ask for your true love's hand in marriage. The day, complemented by the season's festive spirit, carols and decorations, will be forever etched in your memory.

Box within a Box

Build up anticipation by wrapping her engagement ring and placing it at the middle of gift-wrapped boxes of increasing size. Make the outer box a very large one. Fill each box inside with tissue and place a framed picture of both of you or a love note on top of the next visible box. Continue this same pattern leading up to the smallest box with the ring. On Christmas eve or morning leave the final large box out for her to open. When she opens the smallest box, get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.

Plan a Christmas Party

Plan a party and rent a Santa Claus suit to play Santa and pass out gifts. Encourage her to sit on Santa's lap and instead of asking her she wants for Christmas, tell her yours and ask her to marry you. If you are woman popping the questions, surprise him by dressing up as a sultry or traditional Mrs. Claus to ask the question.

Carriage Ride

If you live in an area that has horse-drawn carriage rides through areas with Christmas lights and decorations, make arrangement to take her for a romantic ride for two during the evening. Choose a proposal date that is as close to Christmas as possible. Bring a thermos of holiday cheer and the engagement ring wrapped up as a Christmas gift. In the middle of the ride tell her that you have an early Christmas gift for her and present her with the gift-wrapped ring. When she opens the box, ask her the question.

The Ring As a Christmas Ornament

Place the ring in a special Christmas ornament on the tree. This could be the  start of a tradition where you buy a special piece of Jewelry at Christmas and  leave it in the Christmas ornament.

Whatever way you choose to propose, my wish to you is that she says "Yes" and that it will be the beginning of many wonderful holiday memories together and for all the joy of the season be forever with you in your life together!
