Types of Ceremonies

Your wedding is a celebration of the love you have come to know. It is a day for sharing your joy with family and friends. This is why choosing the right wedding officiate to perform your wedding ceremony, is an important decision. The person you ultimately choose will play an important role in one of the most important moments of your life so you will want to find someone who can help you with the legal requirements, while also nurturing the emotional aspects of your ceremony, whether large or small.

First you need to decide on what type of ceremony you desire to have. The following are descriptions of some types of weddings you can choose from:

CIVIL (Secular) CEREMONY - a civil ceremony is a non-religious ceremony. It does not contain religion in the ceremony or prayers. Although it is not religious, it is not lacking of meaning or love. A couple can choose to include a poem or other special enhancements that may be especially meaningful to them.

NON-DENOMINATIONAL CEREMONY - a non-denominational ceremony is a ceremony that is not of a particular denomination. Non-denominational ceremonies are popular because they serve the purpose for the bride and groom who may be of different religious backgrounds. In these types of ceremonies the officiate can creatively bring in light references to God, prayers and/or customs that both sides can agree to.

CHRISTIAN CEREMONY - a Christian ceremony celebrates the love a man and woman share and the testimony of their lives before God. It is an expression of worship, reflecting joy, celebration, community, respect, dignity and love. The primary purpose is to express their intent by making a solemn and eternal covenant with each other before God. This ceremony includes references to Jesus, Scripture Readings and ceremony enhancements that could include The Cord of Three Strands and the Unity Heart Ceremony.

INTERFAITH CEREMONY - An Interfaith ceremony or Interdenominational is a combination of blend of religious beliefs ranging from only some religious elements to being entirely religious. Interfaith is in essence a respect for and an acknowledgement of all the many different beliefs and spiritual understandings. It is an embracing of the values and traditions of all religious and spiritual paths.

SPIRITUAL CEREMONY - A Spiritual ceremony one where there can be references to God but speaks more about nature, and our spirituality in a non-religious way.
